Today we visited the K-Coop centre. Seeing the conditions that many of these children live in was incredibly humbling. It was tough at times but it made it even more special to see so many smiles and laughter and the children enjoying learning together.
Nothing quite prepares you for the reality of life in the communities we visited. Many of these children live in incredibly difficult conditions, with very little that we would consider essential. For many, their daily meal consists of little more than a plate of rice.
Families face challenges every single day that are hard to imagine, yet the children welcomed us with the biggest smiles, endless enthusiasm and an eagerness to learn.
As soon as the Flipflash boards came out, the room came alive.
We introduced Flipflash Learning through engaging hands on maths activities. It was impossible not to be moved by the challenges many of these children face every day. Yet despite all this, their enthusiasm resilience and eagerness to learn were truly inspiring.
There was laughter, excitement and so many proud faces as the children began recognising letters, sounds and words through games and activities. It didn't feel like a lesson—it felt like play. Watching children who had never experienced learning in this way become completely absorbed was incredibly moving.
The beauty of FlipFlash Learning is that it breaks down barriers. It gives children confidence, encourages participation and makes learning something they genuinely want to do. Today proved that our approach works, no matter where in the world you are.
Some of the children had so little, but they gave us so much in return. Their resilience, kindness and determination were truly inspiring. It was impossible not to be humbled by their optimism despite the challenges they face every day.
This is only the beginning of our journey in Nairobi, and we can't wait to see what the rest of the week brings.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support FlipFlash Learning. Your encouragement is helping us reach children whose potential is limitless, regardless of their circumstances.
